Franchise for Flexible Working

If you are looking for a job that gives you flexible hours, why not run a franchise?

More and more people are looking for work that gives them flexible hours. Whether you need to fit in with school hours, you care for a family member or you simply want the freedom to take time out when you need to, flexible working is becoming one of the key requirements for job hunters. A franchise offers you the perfect opportunity to manage your working hours the way you want to.

The Flexible Franchise

One of the reasons that franchise businesses work so well and are so popular is because they give you the opportunity to decide how to work. The amount of flexibility you get will depend on the company operating the franchise. Some companies may set minimum monthly targets and so you will have to work a certain number of hours in order to meet those requirements. You also need to bring in an income, so you will need to work out how many hours you need to put in to achieve the net income that you want from your business. In most cases, the more hours you put in, the more money you make, so you may choose to work longer hours if you are the sole wage earner, whilst a franchise that is providing a second income may not require the same input. However you arrange your flexible working hours, you'll need to think about the following:

•    Convenience – depending on the type of franchise you are running, the convenience of your clients has to come first. For franchise businesses that rely on other companies' opening hours, such as vending machines, you need to be able to do your work when the company, leisure centre, theatre etc. is open. Businesses that rely on evening clients, such as home demonstrations and evening classes means you'll be doing less during the day but be tied up in the evenings.

•    Income – the harder you work, the more income you will receive. The flexibility that comes with a franchise means that you can build your business up bit by bit, as you become more accustomed to what's required in order to make the money you need. Starting with fewer hours and a smaller franchise gives you the opportunity to see if this really is the business opportunity for you. You can always expand your franchise and work more hours as you become more confident and your income should grow at the same time.

•    Variety – the great thing about franchises is that you can often vary your hours to suit you. This means that if you have other commitments, you can meet them without harming your franchise business. As long as you don't let your clients down, and you make sure you keep them informed about what you're doing, you can work as and when it suits you.
